Office of the Principal

September 2020

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to welcome you back to the 2020-21 school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to the new families joining SCGSTL this year and welcome back all of our returning families as well! I am honored to be your principal. Our goal at SCGSTL is to work together to provide our students with a rich, Christ-centered learning environment. My vision, as the principal, is to ALWAYS put God and kids first! My belief is that all students can learn. As educators, we need to discover how each child learns in order to differentiate our instruction to support diverse learning styles. In a collaborative effort, we want children to thrive in all ways possible. My hope is that all children will LOVE school and nurture a learning environment that is faith-filled, positive, safe, warm and caring, as well as a fun place to learn and grow.

We have been working hard all summer to plan a safe opening of school and to implement best proactive to mitigate the risks associated with Covid-19. Our classrooms have been modified to increase social distancing, signage has been installed throughout the building to guide students, and out schedule has been modified to allow for more time for mask breaks, hand washing and opportunities to access outside learning spaces. A strong emphasis will be placed on social emotional learning as we will work closely with PDHP to ensure the needs of all students are met.

Partnering with families will be crucial this year as we face many obstacles due to the global pandemic. We appreciate your support as you work with students at home to practice safety protocols such as wearing a mask and washing hands. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our school website and Option C which will provide you with with up to date information.

As we adapt “The Hybrid Model” we ask you for your patience as we navigate through this “new normal”. Change is hard and can be especially difficult when compounded with a pandemic that we have and continue to experience. As a faith filled people, we put all our trust in God. We know he is always with us especially during our darkest hours; there he carries us through the most treacherous storms.

On behalf of my entire staff, we are looking forward to welcoming our students back and continuing to build relationships with you our parents. May God continue to bless each and everyone one of us, especially our students as we enter the 2020-2021 school year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jeannette Boursiquot-Charles
