Music Class – with Despina Pestesi (dpestesi@scgstl.org)

Welcome parents and students! Music is a language of emotions and a subject that integrates singing, play, music theory, musical notation, and music history. Nursery through 8th grade have the opportunity to learn about musical instruments like handbells, piano accompaniments, and vocal music as well as musical notation. The biography of great composers and elements of historical periods is also a great interest of our students. Children have a great advantage to sign to a variety of musical repertoire in several foreign languages: Latin, Spanish, Italian, French. Our students have the experience to perform at our special Christmas and Spring show events displaying their talents and hard work on stage. Our Bell Choir is a great enhancement to our productions. My goal as a music teacher is to provide the children with as many opportunities as possible to participate and experience in music-making, so they will develop a lifelong love for music.
